Regrettably, February's event has been postponed - see viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14355
Cort straightened up and wiped the sweat from his brow. "There. That joint'll hold, I reckon. I'd best go tell Arthur that this one's ready to go in."
"Ah, take a break for a minute, won't you?" Alain protested, gesturing to the edge of the ditch where he sat.
Cort shrugged, and came over to sit beside him. "Arthur said he needs these windows right away," he argued, in a tone that offered no argument at all.
"Arthur says he needs everything right away," Alain retorted and passed him a mug of beer. They sat together in companionable silence for a moment, drinking and taking in the scene before them. Their workbench had been set up in the centre of the foundations for what, they hoped, would soon be their home. But before that, they needed to finish the town surgery. It was important, Mayor Arthur Wrightly said, to have a place for the town's only healer to work. Until then, they'd sleep in their tents. The weather was cold, but they'd manage.
"Peaceful, ain't it?" Alain remarked.
"Aye, Cort replied. "For now."
In unison, they raised their eyes to the sky. The sun was making its descent toward the horizon in the west, and the shadows of the trees at the edge of the nearby forest were stretching their long fingers ever closer to the buildings on the outskirts of their unfinished town.
"Be dark soon," Alain said.
"Aye," Cort replied. "Couple of hours, maybe."
Alain said, "We should probably get Arthur that -"
"That window, aye," Cort agreed, and they quickly drained their mugs.
After taking your leave of the Mist Queen's hospitality, you emerge from the Mists into an unfamiliar part of the world you now call your own. Around you you see open grasslands, and distant forests on the horizon. The sun is low in the sky. There is a dirt path nearby that, your trackers tell you, has been used recently, and as the shadows lengthen they lead you to what appears to be a brand new town, still being built. Exposed timbers and half-finished walls, ditches dug for foundations, and the smell of sawdust in the air greet you, along with a handful of humans, who welcome you cordially enough, asking you of your adventures and offering to trade. As it becomes evident to them that you have been travelling for a long time, they soon invite you to join them in their tavern - one of the few buildings that has been completed so far.
"A good night's rest, some food, and some good company," they say, "And you'll be ready for whatever the world throws at you!"
Road-weary and dusty, you agree to the invitation, and step into the aptly-named 'New World Inn' ...
OOC Info: This is an evening social event, and as such will feature little to no combat. The event will be held inside the hut, where there will be NO COMBAT allowed. Any altercations you wish to have inside the hut must be done using the non-combatant rules (which we will go over before the start of the event). If you bring large weapons with you (i.e: anything that isn't a small weapon such as a dagger or claws) you will be asked to leave it at the hut's entrance for safety purposes.
This is a social event in a tavern setting, so we encourage people to bring a bit of food and drink to share if they can! Alcohol is permitted, but as ever please drink responsibly. It's winter, so hot soups and stews, big loaves of bread and other such hearty stuff would be ideal, but please bring whatever you'd like to eat. Sadly we have no Caggles to provide us with a tasty banquet, so we must rely on the time-honoured tradition of BYOB! As Sarah has stated, hot water will be available, and we will be able to heat food up, but we will not have full access to the kitchen, so come prepared. (See her post: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14336)
As a social event, you can expect to have time to have any guild or faction meetings that you wish, to discuss any plot that you wish to discuss, and so on .There will be no skill awarded for this game, and no rips given out - please consider yourself to have the usual number of daily spell rips and so on. We want to keep this low maintenance for GC.
The event will start around 3pm. We are bringing forward the start of the event to 3pm to give you a bit more play time We will be onsite setting up from 12pm but the hut will not be accessible to players until time in.
We aim to have a soft time out around 11pm, so you can go home if you wish, or if you prefer you can camp onsite and stick around for soft RP. As ever, we'll need to keep the noise level respectable after 11pm.
CREW! We will need a small crew for the event, which will be FREE, so please give me a shout via PM with your preferred crew role. We will need NPCs and some brave souls willing to monster in the cold weather.
Any further questions, please ask on the Facebook page and I'll post up any necessary clarifications.
Arrange lifts, confirm times etc before events, and share photos afterwards.
